Off to Work We Go!!

We woke up this morning bright and early with a full work day ahead of us. With Cliff Bars and mixed nuts stowed away in our back packs for protein and two huge coolers filled to the brim with water bottles, all 16 of us loaded the bus and were ready to get back to work on those trenches! We steadily filled wheel barrow by wheel barrow with dirt and after three and a half hours of nonstop digging and hauling we finished ALL the trenches!! We breaked for lunch and after what seemed like only a short few minutes of refueling, we then headed to the hill to make more progress on the stairs leading up to the property. Tomorrow we are all set up to start pouring a reinforced cement foundation for the house and finish the stairs! It's amazing how quickly a house gets formed when just two work days prior we walked up to barren and empty land.

After a rigorous work day, we as a group decided to use some of our funds to get a special gift from us for the boys home and the girls home. As you may know, it's World Cup time and everyone here is glued to their televisions from 8am-5:00pm when the last game finishes up. The boys miss out on this, even though they are huge soccer fanatics. Today as we visited La Casa we surprised the boys with a new, 46" flat screen TV! They were estatic and couldn't have been happier with our gift to them! The girls love being creative and making things, so we got them a nice electric mixer baking pans and all the accessories that go along with that. The girls were so excited to get into the kitchen to start making cupcakes!!

We spent some quality time with the kids and even gathered around together to celebrate Tucker's 15th birthday and Cole's 10th birthday. One of the kids busted out his guitar as the whole house sang them the 3 verse birthday song in Spanish! It was a special moment for Tucker and Cole!

We ended the day sharing great food and comradery all together at the hotel restaurant. It was a day full of sun, sweat and smiles!
